cheese is made and turned in the mold to even the pressing, dinner is cooked and cleaned up, the kitchen mopped, few blackberries left from the freezing for winter....a good day, I am happy.
Tomorrow the gardens get their turn, harvesting for you and the Canton Farmers Market and whole sale. The summer help is all gone , back to college and we miss Collin, Tyler, Nick and Morgan. Us women, Emma, Megan and Elise keep going with harvest, the last plantings of greens, spinach and cilantro and the endless weeding.
I loved the movie "Wonder Woman " so much that Steve got me a Wonder woman outfit. So she is walking the farm and surroundings, getting honks from the cars. I am having more fun.
Kira just told me that she found the fennel patch and ate a huge mouth full, so she couldn't talk. Good that we have so much of it, it will not effect the Mixed Greens. I like when she grazes the gardens to get fresh food.
Cows: Felix is growing like a good weed. He drinks lots of milk leaving about 1 1/2 gallons/day for us. It is about time to separate him for the night so we can get a full bucket in the mornings.
All large or cucumber beetle eaten zucchinis go to the cows. They kind of expect them. Kira and I milk at night, Jeff does the mornings. He is going away for a week, so we get to milk twice a day.
Before vacation was garlic fest. This was the first year we did not get all garlic peeled in two days. All was harvested by Saturday afternoon. Peeling and hanging got done by Tuesday afternoon in between harvesting and going to market that week. Which put weeding behind..... All done now!
Baby Phoebe is slowly growing. She hit the three lb mark last week. They are still in Burlington for a while until she can eat all the food she needs herself. She is nursing some. Our thoughts are with Kate, Christoff, Milo, and Phoebe. You are doing great!
I hope your summer is exciting too,
Peace, Dulli
