We had a wonderful solar eclipse with 20 people family and friends from out of town visiting the farm and every house and bed and then some was full. You can imagine a 4 day feast and party with food and evening bon fires and the highlight was Monday when Larry, Steve's brother who teaches Astronomy at Calvin University in Michigan gave a one hour talk to the school and friends and then we watched the moon cover the sun and the eerie light and the mosquitos came out and we cheered the sun coming back. The pictures don't due the event justice, but if you are from here you probably were watching and experiencing it I hope.
greenhouse transplant growing
The gardens are happening, I am preparing beds for the first peas which are sprouting in the greenhouse in buckets and transplanting peppers and parsley in my house to be cozy for another month. Onions and celeriac are in flats in the greenhouse growing more before hardening off in the outside cold frame.
got any soup?
We accidentally had burnt 3 gallons of soup warming it up after the party and the cows loved, loved the smoky slop and licked their snouts for a long time after that. They also enjoy the fresh garlic greens trimmings. We are selling garlic scallions at the Coop and Natures Storehouse if you are ready for a strong bite.
