thank you for signing up for another season! If you have not done it yet, please do it this week.
I have some exciting news. Seba graduated two weeks ago from Berklee School of Music college in Boston. And as a graduation present the four of us are going to Europe for the month of June! I did not tell you before, because I was still working on the details of how the farm will be run while I am gone. Noel will feed the guinea pigs, Jeff and Noel will feed, milk the cow and make cheese and butter from the milk.
Bob Wagner (who did the mushroom share last year) is a 30+ year experienced farmer who market farms in Kenya in the winters and gardens here in the summers, has agreed to be the head farmer for June. We have been working together for the past two weeks and he is great. Erin, Chris, Catherine an Noel are the crew to run everything smooth. They tell me all will be fine and to relax and take a once in a lifetime summer one month sabbatical after 25 years. My goal is to have all transplants planted before June an all plantings in on time. And guess what, we are doing it. Last week we planted tomatoes, basil, parsley and I seeded flowers. This week we do celeriac and broccoli and kale and cabbage. Next week zucchini and cukes. Today I got 28 big bales of haylage to mulch the long in the ground crops to keep the weeds down and moisture in the ground.
So back to the signing up. It would be great if you can sign up this week so Bob does not have to add a lot of new people while I am gone. He is happy to take on new families, but if you are a long term member and know you are signing up, please don't wait and do it now.
There is such a symphony of fragrances in the gardens with all the fruit trees in full bloom. I wish you could smell it, may be the photo can show it to you?
peace, Dulli
