this week is the last week of the fall CSA. The cabbages are getting bigger!, 5lb by now. I thank you for your loyalty, I could not have eaten or sold all those tomatoes and veggies well otherwise.
We have more potatoes, carrots, cabbage, garlic and parsnips, celeriac and sunchokes. For those of you that want to go on, we can do by-weekly drop off starting next week until the beginning of February
for $55+ $5 delivery= $60 for the basic share and $95+ $5 delivery =$100 for the full share. If next week is too early you can add on at the end. Please let me know what you think.
Today was the last day above freezing for the week and I packed the boxes a day early to not have to do it in freezing weather. I also moved almost all the veggies from the cooler into the Main House basement. Usually that happens at Thanksgiving week, but with the warmer weather the basement was not cold enough. Moving 2000lb of veggies is always a big job. And I also got the large netting from the broccoli and kale stuffed into a large feed trough to keep it out of the weather. The garden is now ready for snow and cold and I am ready for warm and cozy.
Unfortunately not as cozy as could be since Steve is in quarantine after being exposed to covid at the school. He is 6 days into it and doing well with no symptoms. We kept one of the small houses on the farm ready in case some of us have to quarantine or isolate. Kira and I spend time together in the Hugging House, playing games, puzzling or decorating. She makes very good cookies too. I miss my honey. We take walks hang out in the wood shed far apart or talk on the phone. I am just glad that the precautions of masking, distancing, cleaning and airing the class rooms at the school seemed to have worked and nobody else got sick.
Steve got into wine making from a kit and we transferred the first brew into new carboys and into bottles next week He had to do it outside for the distancing. What a sight that was! It is getting late, better get home.
Have a good week and stay safe and warm,
peace, Dulli
