Mark your calendar July 17/18 is Garlic Harvest Fest where we celebrate garlic! There will be picking 12,000 garlic in the field and sitting and peeling and hanging it at the house while the artists will draw and paint the process. We had so much fun lat year to have art and garlic happen at the same time. We will have live music. Please come and have a good time while bringing in the harvest.
Also Steve had his appendix out last weekend (thankfully he did that on the weekend, driving himself to the doctor then hospital and found out he needed surgery) and his mom fell, broke her hip and needs support, emotional stresses and worries on top. The community bonded over the water crisis and we were so excited for showers, laundry and cleaning the main house, it brought us closer together.
The rains are so very welcome, all crops are doing well and so are the weeds. We had just weeded the parsnips and they already need it again.
I hope you are enjoining the plump peas and first cucumbers. Zucchinis are coming on next. We are picking two plantings of peas on the same weeks now and it takes hours. The irrigation I bought for them works.
The cows are doing well, I had to get them 30 gallons/day of water from the school to keep them going during the pump crisis. I finally got to mowing their field that was going to seed and they came running out eating as fast as they could before I mowed and Goldie thought about challenging the tractor but then ran behind the bushes to hide from it. I try to mow 1/3 of the fields at a time to give them enough to eat and keep the grass from getting old or the weeds from going to seed. I also make cheese twice a week and it is beautiful!
I have to go to my meeting, hope to see you in two weeks, be well,
peace, Dulli
