it is hard to believe the summer CSA season is over this week. It is October and we are still picking flowers, beans and cherry tomatoes, no frost in sight. We actually will go and weed the last spinach this afternoon, the weeds are also still going and flowering, seeding...
If you would like more veggies from us, those full of flavor tomatoes (still vine ripened, no pick down before frost), those creamy Carola potatoes (my favorite variety to eat), the crunchy Mixed Salad Greens, we offer the Fall share, starting next week till December 14, 10 weekly pick ups $258, the winter share will start after that. We will be at the Canton Farmers Market till the end of October.
We are also picking potatoes for the winter and we got 2.5 lb/plant a great yield and they are still growing. there are 700-800' left and Little River School youngers are coming to help tomorrow. It is always extra fun when they get excited about finding nuggets.
Steve and I took the weekend off and stayed in a house on Cranberry Lake. We were going to go canoe camping but because of the rain we opted for the house. It took me a day to wind down and we cooked and made cookies and read books and canoed when it did not rain. I feel rested and motivated for the week. Great to start noticing little things again, like mushrooms sprouting out of a log or the amazing colors of the trees. I am soaking up the greens while we have it.
Have a great fall and see you,
Dulli
