It is early morning and I am waiting to give the first cheese of the season it's last turn, so I can go to bed. The kitchen is mopped, all pots washed up and the cheese is nesting in cheese cloth in cheese forms. Today was our seedling workshop and six women came and learned to seed and transplant. They went out in the rain to plant lettuce and onions and we had tea and cookies to warm up after. What a joy to share knowledge and exchange stories. I hope you all stayed dry and warm.
There is a serious mud puddle in front of the garden gate, it could eat you up if you don't watch it. I am not sure if we will get spinach in the ground this week. I guess we don't have to weed or harvest the missed planting. If we get it in this week it should be ready for you by middle of June. The tomato seedlings are about a foot tall and need to go to the cold frame. The trees are starting to bud and that brings shade to my house windows, not good for plants anymore. I like waking up in the morning and look at the tomatoes, very close to my bed and see they grew another two inches again.
Carol has been very sick for three days. She could not get up because she could not mobilize enough calcium to make all that milk and took it from her blood stream which then was not available for muscle contraction. The vet came three times and gave her IV's and I thought we would loose her. After three days she got better and mother and calf are happy and well. And so am I.
