it is snowing hard and I get an office day inside by the fire. We got everything possible planted in the past two weeks. that is three plantings of Mixed Greens, one planting of spinach, beets, cilantro, carrots, peas, potatoes, parsnips and replanting some sunchokes. So, I am happy.
The cows and I have settled down and are very good and they are excited to eat young fresh grass and come running when I call them for treats to get them in the barn to lock up the calf for the night, so I have milk in the mornings. Milking is at 9am after Kira is sent to school and house keeping is done.
Back to the veggies: After this cold spell is done by Thursday we will seed cucumbers, zucchini and summer/winter squash, take onions out to harden off for planting. I want to mulch the onions with unrolling large round bales, scoring the hay with the string trimmer blade and plant into the sliced hay. Maybe we can avoid thirty hours of weeding throughout the year? Our house is also full of plants needing to move to the greenhouse for more light.
And last not least, please sign up for this years CSA. Thank you so much!
peace, Dulli
