I hope, you remembered to pick up your veggies yesterday afternoon. I was running so late, that I couldn't send a note before I went to drop them off. It took a long time to pack all 30 shares, in part because I had some veggies already in the root cellar and some still in the cooler and some still growing in the garden. This is such a warm fall, that the cooler is running a lot.
I enjoyed writing every bodies name on the bags, to serve you for another season. I think the bags came out lush and full and you have to start eating to keep up. It is so nice to still have lettuce and parsley fresh.
We are down to digging sunchokes and parsnips and cleaning up irrigation lines and preparing beds for next spring. We are loving these warm sunny days.
As the season slows down a bit, Phil and Kathleen are working for St. Lawrence Nurseries to get more hours in. Phil also works at the Blackbird Cafe in Canton. He is a busy guy. I took up violin lessons, to keep up with the St. Lawrence string orchestra and I am loving it. Today is piano day for Kira and we rush there right after school and when we come back I have students to dig sunchokes with and tonight orchestra rehearsal. It is fun to have time for other things than gardening. I think farming is the best job there is. ( wait till I moan about rain or snow).
So I hope you get all your fall projects done. Next pick up is November 22, just before Thanksgiving. And please return the bags for next time. In the winter we use bags, because I can fit them better in the car and roots are sturdy enough to be stacked.
We are also looking for a female guniea pig for company for Truffle. Alley died last week in her outside run of old age and Truffle is lonely, talking a lot to us, wanting cucumbers and cucumber season is over. If you know of any guinea pig that needs a loving home, let us know. But it has to be female.
See you, Dulli
