thank you so much for signing up with us. The first box will start Friday, 6-14 in Potsdam and Tuesday 6-18 in Canton.
We will have two information meetings for new interested folks on Saturday 6-15 at the Massena library 3pm and on Sunday 6-16 2pm at the farm
with a tour of the farm.
It's been cool here and the crops are growing slowly. We had two nights in the low 30ies after planting tomatoes, having to cover them. Peppers and eggplants are still covered to baby them along. The peas love the cool and rain and are flowering heavily. We are still working on planting all the transplants started in March and April indoors, like zucchinis, cucumbers,
celeriac and hot peppers plus seeding all the regular crops every two (salad, spinach, cilantro) or three (beans, carrots, beets) weeks. The weeds have kicked in and first harvesting and marketing of greens and spinach has begun.
We put up this elaborate netting I imported from Germany to keep the swede midge off the broccoli, cauliflower and kale. When transplanting in the rain, the netting dropped so much water on me that I came in soaked to the bone. I hope it works.
Having five part time workers allowed me to go to Boston last week for four days to visit my son Seba and see his band play a show. We had a great time and even went to the Boston beach in the evening of a 97 degree day.
This weekend I am trying to catch up with the community work of cleaning and wood stacking. I am tired but happy to go into the next week farming. Steve is busy with the addition at the school. Its going up fast.
We are at the Canton Farmers Market Tuesday from 9am till 2pm, maybe I will see some of you?
