it is veggie pick up day and we have a fine bag ready for you. I am giving out two winters quashes because I don't know how well they will hold. So far so good. The squashes live in the squash cage upstairs in the main house to stay at 50-70 degrees. We fortified it with two bungy cords to make it snug tight; no critters in there! We keep the basement for the rest of the veggies at about 38 degrees by opening a window and a door for cooling or closing to prevent freezing. My brother ad made a system that did it automatically, but it broke a couple years ago and he is not coming to visit until next summer. We have a thermometer by the stairs to see basement temperature to adjust as needed.
Potsdam people please remember to pick up today or tomorrow. Ask the Coop managers where your bag is (in one of the coolers if you did not pick up today). They will donate it after tomorrow.
What else? We are still picking up irrigation in the gardens if the weather is above freezing. The ground is frozen and no digging possible. Cleaning the barn is another task waiting. And of course the cows. They enjoy the grade c (c for cow) veggies. Felix stretches his neck so I can scratch him and he closes his eyes when I do, such a sweet heart.
I am looking forward to seeing Steve's family for the holidays. Kira will be driving interstate for the fist time. What fun.
I wish you all a happy holiday and a good start into the new year.
Peace,
Dulli
